Before COVID 19, procurement teams were scrambling to manage changing expectations and cater to demand for faster lead times at value prices. This system relied heavily on a working supply chain that connected the world. And then COVID19 pandemic hit. Cities were closed, Countries were in lock down and businesses temporarily closed.  This break in the supply chain caused massive disruptions and pushed up prices. Before we could recover from the COVID19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine conflict flared and further causing widespread economic damages induced by various sanctions that impacted the supply of energy, food and other essential commodities.

Fiji being part of the global village was not spared of the impact. The Fiji Procurement Office has had to rethink its current strategies in order to mitigate the current issues and manage future demands to ensure services to the people of Fiji are not impacted drastically.
